The Rugby Pitch
Rugby is played on a rectangual grass field or pitch. The length of the pitch is 100m (330ft) from try line to try line but the width of the pitch can vary. Each team defends an in goal area behind the goal posts defined by the try line, the dead ball line, and the touchlines. Between the two try lines, a series of solid and dotted white lines are marked at regular intervals. These divide the rugby pitch in to zones, and indicate where restart kicks are taken from.
Goal Posts
The aluminium or steel goal posts form a target for penalty kicks and drop goals. The bases of the posts are padded to protect the from impact injuires.
The overall height to the top of the Goal Post is a minimum of 4 meters (13ft) and the width between the uprights being 5,6 meters (18ft, 4 inches) apart.
