Rules

The ball may be passed in any direction, using only the feet (a kick), a clenched fist ( a handpass), or an open handed tap. A mark is awarded if a player catches the ball from the kick. That player can take a kick of handpass unimpeded from where they caught the ball. A player can run with the ball, but must bounce it or touch it to the ground every 15m (50ft). Penalties are awarded for infringements such pushing an opponent in back, tacklin illegally, and holding a player who does not have the ball.

Scoring

Four posts are erected at either end of the oval and markings are placed on the ground. The aim for each team is to kick the ball between either the two inner posts of one set (for a goal, worth six points) or between an outer and inner post (for a behind, worth just one point). The standard starting player positions are shown in the diagram below, but they are not enforced by the rules of the game - players may locate themselves and move in any direction.
