The Team

There are 11  players from each team on field at any one time.

 

Basic Defence

The defence aims to stop the offence from gaining yards. Most teams in the NFL use a formation called 4-3 defence, in which four defensive linemen line up in front of three linebackers. Two safeties play behind to stop longer passes and runs, while two cornerbacks cover to the wide receivers.

Basic Offence

The standard I Formation is a common attacking offensive using five offensive linemen - 2 offensive tackles, 2 guards, and the centre.

 

Positions: WR Wide Receiver, TE Tight End, OT Offensive Tackle,

G Guard, C Centre, QB Quarterback, FB Fullback, TB Tailback
