The Rules

A red ball has to be potted alternately with a coloured ball untill all the red balls have been cleared from the table. After this, the colours must be potted in ascending order of their value.

Fouls

Foul shots generally incur a penalty of 4 points, which are added to the tally of the opposing player. Fouls can take place for a number of reasons including a player striking the ball with boot feet off the ground. At least one foot has to be on the floor at all times. A foul involving a high scoring colours incurs a penalty to the value of the colour, so a foul on the black ball incurs a 7 point penalty.

 

  • Striking the cue-ball more than once
  • Striking when both feet are off the floor
  • Playing out of turn
  • Playing improperly from in-hand, including at the opening stroke
  • Causing the cue-ball to miss all object balls
  • Causing the cue-ball to enter a pocket
  • Playing a snooker behind a free ball
  • Playing a jump shot
  • Playing with a non-standard cue
