The Board
The bed of a dartboard is made of cork, sisal, and synthetic materials to give it a bristle appearance. Wire separates each scoring section. A dart that lands within a section scores the points, even if it bends the wire out of place. A dart that bounces back off the wire does not count.
Doubles
A dart that lands in any part of this perimeter area (double ring), scores twice the number shown on the rim.
Outer
A dart landing in this green section (around the bull's eye; bull) scores 25.
Bull
A dart in red section (bull eye) counts 50.
Trebles
A dart lands in any part of this area (triple ring) scores three times the number shown
The Arrows
The maximum permitted weight of a dart is 50g (1.8oz). The pointed tip may be made of brass,, alloys of nickel and silver. The shat is made of plastic or solid aluminium. The flight is detachable and replacabale. It is either tough nylon or flexible plastic.
Checkout Time
For the first few darts, players try to score as high as possibl, normally going for treble 20 each time. Nearing zero, they often try to leave theselves 32, so they can throw at double 16. This is the checkout of choice because a narrow miss that scores a single 16 leaves them on double 8, which is adjacent on the board. If that fails and they get a single 8, they can go for a double 4, and in turn double 2 and double 1.
