Strength of shot plays an important role in table tennis, but the key in modern game is spin. Here are the most known shots in table tennis:

• Forehand
• Backhand
• Forehand Chop
• Backhand Chop
• Smash
• Forehand Topspin
• Backhand Topsin
• Serve

The Penalties

You are not allowed to:

• Move the table
• Touch the net assembly
• Put your free hand on the playing surface while the ball is in play

This means that you can actually jump or sit on the table if you like, provided you don't actually move it. It also means that your free hand can touch the end of the table, just as long as you touch the side and not the top of the table. You can also put your free hand on the table once the ball is no longer in play.

In double matches, players strikes the ball in turn. No one may make two consecutive shots.
